This model of the main gate of Minas Tirith is designed to fit within the community window display at the LEGO store in Troy, Michigan. The model is based on the Peter Jackson Lord of the Kings, Return of the Kings movie; the design was probably that of artist Alan Lee. If all goes well the model will be on display starting on January 22, 2013. This scene shows the Orcs with a basic Mark 1 battering ram; Grond took a long time to arrive since the Orcs had to repair the bridge at Osgiliath before bringing forward the "Wolfshead" from Morrrdorrr. Over on the right, the wall was damaged by a boulder hurled by an Orchish siege engine. Behind the decorative white stone is the indestructible dark stone similar to that of Orthanc with which the wall was originally built. In order to reconcile the white wall in the movie with the black wall in the LOTR book, I would like to believe that perhaps Steward Ecthelion I had the wall covered with a veneer of white stone since the black was so depressing.
